I’m Gabrielle Tse, a Hong Kong-born writer of Chinese and Filipina descent. I’m currently studying Comparative Literature in Edinburgh; previously, I read Law at The University of Hong Kong. 

 

For my poetry and short fiction, I was shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award in 2025 and won the Hong Kong Young Writers Award two years in a row. My writing often focuses on family, memory, and belonging.

I also like writing about art. My art journalism can be found in places such as The Hong Konger and ArtAsiaPacific, and I’ve been commissioned to cover the Edinburgh Art Festival. 

 

Other interests include dance, vintage fashion, and cryptic crosswords.
